As always, I would like to strongly encourage people to ask questions. Your anonymity is assured, unless you specifically want to be named. Keep the questions coming - if you don't know the answer to something, the chances are someone else doesn't either.

I hope you find tranfree valuable and enjoy reading it. Please tell all your friends about it.

New Message Board - translator-bb

There is a new message board at translatortips.com . Use it to ask questions, talk to each other, discuss any aspect of translation, with particular emphasis on translation business and marketing issues! To start with there is only one rule - the rules will be made up as we go along and added to the FAQ. If you are interested, go and check it out! Enjoy!

New Product Partnership [As of Aug 2001, we don't sell this product any more, it's left here for historical completeness]

I hinted at this in last month's tranfree , but now it is time to reveal all. At the translatortips.com sister site - translation-agencies.com - we can now proudly offer you Radek Pletka's Weekly job list. An excellent weekly compilation of translation jobs from all over the world. Radek's is the original list and is packed full of jobs every week.

I've recommended it to you before, but now we've taken it a stage further and you can subscribe online. You'll wish you'd done it months ago!

Keeping the FREE in tranfree

Now that the 4000 subscribers mark has been reached it will soon be necessary to find a server based solution to handle all of the subscriptions and distribution. Last month's distribution took 5.5 hours on my ISDN line and this one will take more than 6 hours.

Many of you have said nice things about tranfree , so I am determined to keep the email distribution of the currebnt editions FREE and accessible to all freelance translators all over the world.

It has been pointed out to me that selling a small amount of advertising space to relevant parties might be a way to help pay for the new distribution system. So, if any of you know a company, with a relevant product or service, that might be interested in reaching (up to date figure) translators please let them know about tranfree. Advertising that is not relevant to people in our profession will not be accepted, so do not worry - your tranfree is not going to become chock full of rubbishy adverts for irrelevant things you don't want!

If you or any potential advertisers are interested, click here for further information.
