Survey - How Busy Was Your First Quarter? The second translatortips® survey ran from March 14th to now. Its purpose was to check out the state of the translation industry in the first quarter of 2000. The results speak for themselves. Most translators had a first quarter at least as good as last year and the majority had plenty of work. Excellent news!
|
| RESPONSE | VOTES | PERCENT |
| More than I can cope with | 28 | 29.79 % |
| Plenty, but not too much | 26 | 27.66 % |
| Just about enough | 10 | 10.64 % |
| Not much - quiet time | 25 | 26.60 % |
| None | 5 | 5.32 % |
| TOTAL | 94 | 100.00 % |
So 57.45% had plenty of work or too much - that's a good sign
Another 10.64% had enough.
And 31.91% seem to be having a quiet time.
I find the 5.32% with none rather worrying
- I hope those people have other income sources. Imagine 3 months with no income? Ouch!
Q2. Has your first quarter of 2000 been busier or quieter than 1999?
| RESPONSE | VOTES | PERCENT |
| Busier | 46 | 51.11 % |
| Quieter | 22 | 24.44 % |
| About the same | 22 | 24.44 % |
| TOTAL | 90 | 100.00 % |
So around 75% of people have had a first quarter of 2000 better
or similar to 1999
Most people have enough work and most people are as busy or
busier than last year. Looking good!
