Welcome to issue 19 of tranfree - the newsletter for translators.
New tranfree Distribution ServiceWe've got a new tranfree distribution service. Now we're using Postmaster General because our previous service got taken over and closed down. This new service promises to be really good as it offers a lot more features than the old one. The most significant change from your point of view is the new subscribe and unsubsribe addresses. subscribe@tranfree.com and unsubscribe@tranfree.com Now that these are set up, these addresses will not change again. PHEW - stability at last! tranfree is still growing fast - we're up to 10,640 subscribers now. This new system handles some lists that have a million subcribers, so it should be big enough that we don't ever have to change again as long as they deliver. MyPage is a system where you can see most of the translation jobs
on the web at any given time for your language It works with your language combinations and filters all the jobs from 4 of the top 5 internet translation job sources. But of course it cannot work unless it knows what your language combinations are. So before you can use it, you have to register and tell the system your languages. Then, when you login you will see a link to MyPage in the top right corner of the screen. http://www.translatortips.net/translation-jobs.html
Font SizeSome people commented on the small font size. I spoke to Henry at ProZ about this and he said there are good technical reasons why increasing the font size is a problem. So the best way round this is to change the font size on your browser (not ideal I know, but it's a work-around). This was a particular problem for people with laptops and MACs. If you use a MAC, you'll find that the font is rather small. You'll need to set your text size to largest... View, text size, largest. If you use a PC it will probably be... View, fonts, largest.
