tranfree issue 25 - 5th February 2001

"Referrals & Speech Recogition"

Welcome to issue 25 of tranfree - the newsletter for translators.

Rush Rush Rush

The end of January was a bit of a rush. Tax returns, accounts, books to write, people to see.

But now it's February things have lightened up a bit. We didn't have much on yesterday so we went out for the afternoon.

Isn't it great having the freedom to be able to do that?

This is something we must never forget when we're out there in the online mailing lists and forums whining about how bad things are for us freelancers.

The first four letters of freelance are the most valuable. When you are freelance you are FREE to...

  • turn away work from people you don't like
  • set your own terms and rates
  • go out shopping in the afternoon if it suits you

...be in control!

The downside is that freedom costs. The cost is - responsibility. Yuk, we all hate that now don't we? I think the price is worth paying overall though. Don't you?

Survey Shaping Up

The translatortips® job sites survey has generated a lot of votes.

There is a clear leader and it's not the same one as last year.

Come and see who is this year's rising star and last year's fallen angel. If you have not yet had a look, please go to...

http://www.translatortips.net/job-survey.html

...where you can see the results and vote for your best internet source of jobs.

[The results from this survey are in tranfree 26

I'll be reviewing the results and revealing what my predictions were in the next tranfree.

Enjoy and benefit from tranfree

Thanks for your advise. I've managed to email out 1,543 letters. In fact, the response was such that I've already covered the cost of the mailing list."

Mike Levin

Wow, that was quick.

Mike only bought tranmail less than 12 hours ago (at the time of writing).
