tranfree issue 45 - 28 January 2002

"Professionalism, Free TM software & email behaviour"

Welcome to issue 45 of tranfree - the newsletter for translators.

What a Start to the Year

January has been a tricky old month for me. I've been buried under a mountain of administration work

I had to reformat my hard disk too, which could have come at a better time. I knew it was due. It was 2 years since I last did it and the computer was getting way too slow. But I was hoping it would be OK to leave it until February. And then my email software stopped working.

So I had no choice but to back everything up and get on with the reformat.

Just today I had to pay my taxes and file tax returns, which is an unpleasant annual task

Oh well - it's over now. Sorry for the delay since the last tranfree. I hope your January has been more income generating and less of a pain than mine.

Enjoy and benefit from tranfree

Alex

Translation Joke

Machine Translation errors.

  1. The French word for dustbin is la poubelle. Recently while translating an article on Osama Bin Laden I got...
    OSAMA POUBELLE (maybe right!) LADEN!

  2. The French word for lamp-post is le poteau. While translating an article about the post-Taliban Era, this is what I got for post-Taliban...
    Poteau-Taliban! (Lamp-post-Taliban!)
