There are a lot of software trial versions which you can download for free such as Trados, Acrobat Reader, Framemaker, Pagemaker and so on. These versions are free to be downloaded so one can see how they work and decide whether this software will profit them. It becomes very well illegal to download software and use it for unlimited time, expecially if you are doing business with it. There is a reason they are being sold! For the same reason it is illegal to purchase used software from a third person. I could care less what other people do, I am just trying to give information to others in order to help them. You all have a great day!
: Trados' website gives the possibility to download a trial version, which is not 'illegal' (?) and the only difference with the "real thing" is that you cannot build translation memory databases larger than about 80 translation units (source and target). This version will not expire. Moreover, you can download the glossary database Multiterm, for which you don't need any external 'dongle' and in fact works as 'the real thing'.

: : I would not recommend downloading software and keep using it. That is illegal in the. You can download trial versions to see how it works. Also, when you download, you will only get a trial version, which is not as compatible as the "real thing" and you won't be able to use certain tools, that come with it. I personally use the Trados Freelance Edition, which you can obtain from www.trados.com for $495, it's a special for now. It usually costs around $1200. It is very good software and I like it a lot. Good luck.
