You could try setting up a web page on a free host such as Netscape.
I did, and I am now freelancing part time. It doesn't pay enough yet for me to give up the day job, but I live in hope.
I realise that you need a full time employment immediately, but a few small jobs will help you gain experience and give you something to show prospective employers.
