ING Direct bank accounts

Does anyone have any experience of using these? They are supposedly without fees or minimum deposit, but are there any hidden charges, e.g. with cheques or wire transfer? Also can you open accounts for currencies other than that of the country where the bank service is based? i.e. Sterling account in the USA, or a Euro account anywhere? I have addressed these questions to ING but haven't had any response.
