Dear Claire, could you please advise how new translators can get more experience if the agencies are not willing to give them work because they lack the experience. It seems to be a vicious circle!
Also, I would like to get anyone's views how to break through the screen of 'first call translators' (preferred translators used by the agencies) and pass the stage of 'we have your details in our file and will contact you when the job opportunity arises'?!! At least this is my experience with the UK agencies in the past two years. No one is interested in sending tests to you or ever calls you back...
