Well, I think it's just a joke!

"Attenti al cane" means "Beware of dogs!" (even
tough "cane" is not plural) and is
usually written when there are dangerous dogs inside
the garden of an house.

"Attenti ai gatti" simply means "Beware of cats!":
do you realize?
