Dear Claire, please advise on how new translators can get more experience if agencies are reluctant to hire them because of their lack of experience. Seems to be a vicious circle!

Also would like to hear anyone's views on how to break through the screen of 'first call translators', preferred translators used by agencies and pass the 'we have your CV in our file and will contact you when a job opportunity arises' stage with agencies. They are not interested in sending any tests and never call back. At least it's been my experience with the UK agencies for the past 2 years.
