Hi,
I've just a fairly unpleasant exchange with a tranmail-listed agency in France. They replied to my initial letter offering 0.054 Euro per target word for German to English hardware manuals - a bit low I thought. To be quite honest, I thought they were "trying it on" and replied that the "average" rate would be a little under twice that amount, but if they were happy with the quality they got for that price...(oops! not advisable, I know), but if they were ever in an emergency, I remained at their disposal (meant sincerely).
My "quality comment" obviously annoyed them though, and they replied that they had come across plenty of greedy people like me, who claim to have so-called diplomas in whatever, and charge twice the going rate! I've looked at the macroconsulting rates survey for support, but the rates range from way below mine to way above. Having had direct clients in the past, I have received good rates, but I'm still trying to get a grip on 'average' agency rates. Any advice on this, and my dispute would be appreciated.
Many thanks in advance,
Richard.
