: I'm starting a home office and was wondering what the most common methode of payment is between client and translators. Thanks for this great resource site its great!

I usually ask for payment by personal cheque in Sterling, but I have an agreement with my bank that I can also accept personal cheques in foreign currencies, but they take longer to clear, and cost me £10.00 per transaction.
I have also had cash in Dollars, which I took to the local Travel Agents to get changed into Sterling, but they rooked me on the exchange rate and also charged me £2.50 for the transaction.

Regards, Iain.
