Here are my questions:
(1) What does "carrier market" mean in the following context? (In a document addressing a computer buyer audience in the U.S.):
"...the company has made significant investments in research and development, in strategic acquistions, in an expanded end-user sales force for the enterprise
and carrier markets..."
Does "carrier markets" in this context refer to transportation markets, or telecomunications markets, or something else? And can anyone offer a decent translation into Spanish of this term?
(2) How would one translate into Spanish the term "network interface cards (NICs)"? I know that NICs are segments of the local area networking (LAN) market. Would it be "tarjetas de interfase de redes"?
(3) What does "estanqueidad" mean in the following context? (In a description of an internal combustion (automobile) engine):
"La presión que se produce durante la fase de
compresión es una medida de la cantidad de admisión (llenado del cilindro), así como para clificar el pistón y las válvulas en cuanto a la enstanqueidad de la cámara de combustión.
Does it mean "amount of water"? "Water-tightness"?
