A new shareware program for translators, called DicoMaker,
is available on the Net at
http://sites.netscape.net/dicomaker/DMeDwnld.htm
DicoMaker is a Windows 95/98 tool that allows translators
to easily create, search and manage their own electronic
multilingual dictionaries. It provides a means to consolidate,
in an easily accessible format, personal terminology you
may have on index cards or in lists in word processor
documents.
The main difference between DicoMaker and other personal
terminology management software is that DicoMaker is not
a database program. DicoMaker dictionaries are text files,
not database files, making it so much easier to store and
manage lexical information from various sources.
I originally developed the program for my wife, who is a
professional translator, and I would very much like to know
what other translators think of it. So if you decide to try
it, please let me know how things went.
Thank you.
