: I have worked as a freelance translator for two years now and am currently specialising in literary translations. I and a friend of mine, who is also a translator would like to start our own agency, but need some pointers on how to get started:

This is beyond the scope of translatortips

: -How much can we charge per word as an agency?

Depends on subject matter, language pair and how quickly the want it, and what country you are in. I can't answer that.

: -How do we find the clients without spamming?
Trade directories, yellow pages, direct mail campaigns are the most successful

: -How do we make a website that gets in all the major search engines for little money?

Not possible I'm afraid. There's no such thing as a free lunch.

: -What legal actions have to be taken? (such as taxes, an accountant, a capital....)

In Belgium I have no idea - sorry.

Alex
