What to charge for software script translation?

Hi all. Doing help section of a piece of software, have got the script in a .txt file. Two questions come to mind:

(1) Does scripting have to be completely unformatted? The glossary they gave me is in a .txt file as well, and the Chinese didn't show up properly when I opened it (although the English did). I had to re-format the text with a Chinese font in order to read it. My question is, when I do the translation of the script, does that have to be completely unformatted? If it does, then I don't know what to do, because the Chinese won't show up then. (Do I have to use a Unicode font?)

(2) For script, do you charge per word? Or per line, in which case only two or three words need to be translated, as the rest is script.
I usually charge US$0.12 per word for translation. Would anyone suggest I go a bit higher for this job, due to its technical nature?

Thanks,
Charles
