: Good point Miriam! A good friend of mine is a photographer and encounters the same dilemma on a regular basis. The problem with databases is that if they are not used by all the translators working for a given client, then the consistency issue rears its ugly head. This spring, one of my big clients called upon another agency to provide translation services in addition to mine, only they did not tell me. The translation agency (I use the term loosely...they are a marketing firm who provides translation services when needed)provided text that is not consistent with the terminology I have created over time. The result was a piece of advertisement that did not work at all and was poorly done. My client did not realize that it could have backfired on me and made me look really bad if that ad had been associated with my work!!!
