I'm interested in finding out what translators are typically paid for per-word, per-hour, and salaried in-house positions in the U.S. I'd also like to know whether a degree or certificate in translation, or ATA accreditation, makes any appreciable difference in one's earning potential. Finally, I'm interested in learning whether there's a significant difference in the compensation for translating different kinds of documents (legal, financial, technical).

Any information you can provide would be really appreciated. Thanks.
