I have been working on a translation into English(just for myself and my friends) that I think might find a market if published in English. First off: is it possible or realistic for a free-lance publisher to approach a publishing company about a translation I've done (or do they only have certain translations done by their own departments)? Secondly, how could I go about finding a publisher (commercial or academic)? And then would I have to get permission from the original publisher before I even approach anyone else to publish the translation?
