I know there have been lots of questions about distance learning translation courses on this website before, but has anybody actually done one of those before?
I am especially interested in the certificate programm with WLS and my language pair would be english/german.
Are they recognized by translation agencies?
What are your experiences with those courses?
Are the good enough to get yourself started as a translator?
Does anybody know of other distance learning courses offering a certificate or diploma for translations from english into german? I already checked Universities of New York and Toronto.
I am thankful for any piece of information you can give me.

I am not sure if you have gotten an answer to your question yet, but I am currently taking a course through WLS. You have the option of obtaining a certificate in translation or a diploma. The choice is yours. Their website is www.wls.ie.
