Hi there,

I'm new to this forum, so bear with me. I know there are a lot of "How do I become a translator?" topics, but none of them really seem to apply to me.

I am a native English speaker from the US studying abroad in Spain, and majoring in Spanish. I plan on finishing my BA at Saint Louis University in Madrid and then I need to look for a Master's program of sorts.

I would like to be a certified translator, and I would like to continue to live in Europe.

I DON'T want to return to the States for school.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a million,
Jessie

Hi Jessie,

If you are confident that you can translate at a professional level, I would advise you to go for the Institute of Linguist examination to obtain a Diploma in Translation, that is equivalent to a masters in translation (only you save yourself 2 years study!). Unless the master you want to go for is other than translation, I would go for it. Their website is: www.iol.org.uk

All the best,
Rosi
