I've been concerned for some time about levels of confidentiality by e-mail. Put simply, e-mails just aren't confidential! So even when I receive a job from a client stating "this job is highly confidential!!!", I can just imagine someone at my ISP or my client's ISP sitting and having a chuckle as they read the "confidential" attachment.
So with that in mind, I've sourced some software which I think resolves the problem quite nicely. In fact, I liked it so much I put a link to it on my website!

Essentially, it encrypts mails between two mail servers using the same software - 1024-bit (military grade) encryption for messages and 128-bit (banking grade) encryption for attachments. I've been using it for a couple of months now. It has the added advantage that it logs all transactions so I can see when things are being received, and it also has a Blacklist function so that I can stop mails being received from spammers.
So what do you think? Is confidentiality something that ever crosses your mind? I'm assuming that most translators know to keep all work and client details confidential in any case, but I can't help but be concerned that there are certain links in the present standard chain where our stringent confidentiality standards aren't being maintained.
I'd be interested to know your thoughts on this.
