Hello everyone,Greetings! I'm new to the forum, and would like to know if anyone could recommend some good directories or newsgroups (preferably free) on the Internet in which to market my services. I have read in different sources that mailing lists can be a good way to market yourself. If naming specific sites is not allowed, I appreciate it if you could send me a personal e-mail-- thanks! Hi Scott, and welcome! This has been covered several times on here, if I remember correctly. Why not have a search through the archive? And to start off with, have a look at www.proz.com - it might have some of what you're looking for. All the best

Hi Werner and Apollo,Yes, I'm familiar with TranslatorsCafe.com. I've actually seen you on there before, Werner (nice to talk to you again). But I didn't think you could really do any marketing of your services on there (for free), or can you? If so, please let me know how. I posted on there a while back, asking you about advertising on Google, after you mentioned you had tried it with success. I've been running my ad for a while now, and have had some inquiries but nothing definite so far. Since I'm just getting started, I guess it just takes time. It's nice to know the TC forum is more relaxed -- that's always a plus in my book! Also, I've searched the archives on here for newsgroups, but haven't found anything so far. Any advice? And have you ever tried mailing lists as a marketing tool? Thanks for your reply. ------------------ Scott de Lesseps Scott's Quality Translations www.4sqt.com IP: 63.158.248.137 |

A website needs to download fast and, if possible, provide all the relevant information on the first page (clients, especially those in a rush, don't have much time or patience; they need to get to the information fast).
I agree, I hate flash too Totally unneccesary for selling translation services. More pages = more search engine and visitor entry points, as long as they are carefully constructed and designed to funnel the visitors towards the order, and not just full of useless nonsense.

Thanks for the info guys! How about directories for translators? Does anyone have any advice on that? I have tried registering with the Google Directory, but I've heard it's hard to get listed with them. Also, has anyone ever tried mailing lists as a marketing tool? Thanks.Scott IP: 63.159.81.8 |
