Hi All,Thanks (in no small part) to encouragement on and around this forum, I am now in the process of moving my (half French) family permanently from the UK to France. Having resigned from a "good" (by conventional standards) job in London, I plan to establish myself, eventually, as a freelance translator in France.
I will suffer at first from a lack of any credible record of experience (having worked in communications until now), but have very good professional knowledge that would allow me to tackle a few specialist areas: most likely corporate communications, marketing and energy work.
Given this (perhaps odd) combination of strenghts and weaknesses, and that I will be a French-to-English Translator based in France, does anyone have any tips for the range of current going rates for translators working for AGENCIES (IDEALLY FRENCH ONES). Going rates in France for direct client work (the chance would be nice!) are pretty clear from a trawl of the internet.
I don't want to price myself out of work that might gain me experience; but, conversely, don't want to under sell myself because I have a family to feed when my savings war-chest finally runs out!
All tips and advice from the accumulated wisdom on these forums gratefully received by above novice.
