I've just read tranfree 32 on hoax viruses - too late, unfortunately. The e-mail I opened just before tranmail was the virus warning referred to, and, like an idiot, I panicked, followed the instructions and deleted the file. I then duly sent an e-mail to friends warning them. Feeling very pleased with myself, I opened tranmail and settled down to read some good advice. Oh dear! So I quickly dashed off another e-mail to my friends telling them to ignore the warning. I'm just relieved that I only sent the warning to friends and not to any clients.
I've learnt my lesson now and have bookmarked the Symantec hoax page for future reference. Now I feel such an idiot, but take a little comfort knowing that the person who sent me the warning (and also deleted the file) panicked just like I did, and sent it to all his business contacts.
Thanks for all the good and practical advice in tranfree, it's just what idiots like me need!
