I just wanted to say that I thought Mary's article on 'how to conduct yourself via e-mail' was fantastic. Mary, you always write such great articles but I really thought this was great. I am one of those people who also hits the delete button when there is no e-cover letter to accompany an application for work. Not only do I find it rude and inconsiderate but I am too afraid to open attachments for fear of viruses. So unless I receive an introduction in the body of the mail, I don't open it. OK, so you can't guaratee that some bug or other won't crawl into your system but if I know it is a genuine professional application, it certainly helps.People have certainly (in general) forgotten etiquette when it comes to using e-mail. We should remember that it is not to be treated any differently than any other form of media. I never receive just a CV by snail mail for instance, so why by e-mail. It makes no sense to me! Ah well! Bravo for Mary. IP: 195.92.168.173 |
