At school, a good friend once wrote an essay in French with copious help from her trusty dictionary and came up with the sentence: "je ne vais jamais à la piscine parce que j'ai peur d'évier".For those none French speakers, "évier" means sink (n.), but does look suspiciously like a verb with its "-er" ending!! And what do you think these are (seen on various French menus): - believed fish - chief's sheep - raped carrots - flat eggs ??? In French: - poisson cru (raw fish) - agneau du chef (chef's lamb) - carottes rapées (grated carrots) - oeufs sur le plat (fried eggs) I get as much amusement from the menu translations as I do from the food usually! ------------------
